Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of global artists including Burna Boy, J. Cole, and Davido, Nigerian born Canadian Dozie embarked on his musical journey at the age of 15, initially gaining recognition through talent show covers. Over the years, he has evolved his style, carving out a distinct contemporary sound that defies the conventions of traditional hip-hop and afro-pop.
In addition to his prowess as a performer, Dozie is a multifaceted talent, proficient in sound engineering, music production, and music video direction. His creative ingenuity has garnered attention from industry heavyweights, with pop sensation Justin Bieber among his early supporters. Following his graduation from Dalhousie University, Dozie’s career gained momentum as he contributed to the soundtrack of the hit Netflix movie, 2 Weeks in Lagos. His live performances across Canada consistently sold out, affirming his status as a rising star in the music scene.
Dozie’s ascent in the industry is further underscored by his presence on Spotify curated playlists such as: “New Music Friday Canada,” “The Bay to LA”,and “Northern Bars” amassing over a million streams across various platforms. His music has also graced the airwaves of major Canadian radio stations including IHeart Radio and Virgin Radio.
As his star continues to rise, Dozie has attracted the attention of prominent publications including iHeart Radio, Hip Hop Canada, Buzz LA, Orange Park, and 10@10. All of which are eager to interview him about his rapidly rising success. In fact, in the past year, Dozie has collaborated with notable producers for artists such as Lil Tjay, Polo G, and Lil Mosey, further solidifying his position in the industry.
Making sure he makes his mainstream mark, Dozie doesn’t show any signs of slowing down any time soon.
